Ps 71:5 - "For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my confidence from my youth." NASU
The best way to gain confidence in your abilities is put them into practice. In other words, execute your abilities in the areas you need to increase your confidence. The more you practice or execute your abilities the more your confidence will grow. If you ever have the opportunity to watch a high school or college wrestling team you will see them doing something known as "drilling". When the wrestlers are "drilling" they are doing the same move over and over again to the point that it becomes automatic.
When I became a believer I was a few months away from turning 24 years old and I must admit I didn't immediately have 100% confidence in God in all things. It took me quite a few years to be able to say I have 100% confidence in God in all things.
How will your confidence in God increase? It has been my experience your confidence in God will grow as you walk with Him through your trials of life. Life has a way of putting some enormous pressures on us. Some of these pressures may be financial, health or family and they are so extreme we believe they are going to kill us. It is when we are experiencing these difficult times that our confidence in God has an avenue for growth. Don't detest the trials of life that you experience. Instead, see them as a great opportunity for you to increase your confidence in what God is able to do. To be the best you can be you need confidence in yourself and in God. Think On These: The strength that comes from confidence can be quickly lost in conceit. A good leader inspires men to have confidence in him; a great leader inspires men to have confidence in themselves. Stay Pumped, Gary A. Serago Minister of God's Word

Luke 9:59, 61 - And He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." …. 61 Another also said, "I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home." NASU
Then Jesus makes this eye-opening statement: "The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." Jesus is informing any future disciples if you want to be on His team you will have to pay the price. If you want to be a part of His team be prepared to endure hardships. When building a team you need people who are willing to endure the hardships they will face. You need people who are willing to pay the price even if they have to sleep on the ground. What your team doesn't need is people who want to give you excuses for why they can't do what you have asked them to do.
Jesus knew these two guys were never going to make it on His team. They were never going to be preachers because they were not willing to accept the hardships that come along with being in the ministry. They wanted the glory of speaking and having people listen to them. Years ago when my staff members would share with me some of the hardships they were enduring in the ministry I had one standard answer: "Welcome to the Ministry!" What were you expecting everything to go as you had it planned? Were you expecting everyone to jump on board and support you? Yeah, well that will not be happening in the ministry. When you are building a team choose wisely my friend. Think On These: Conviction is a belief that you hold or that holds you. Most failures are experts at making excuses. The most unprofitable item ever manufactured is an excuse. Stay Pumped, Gary A. Serago Minister of God's Word Gen.11:4, 6 - And they said, "Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name; lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." …. 6 And the LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. NASB
The Bible is filled with many stories of how people accomplished success in their lives. What is it you would like to succeed in today? I will share with you one Biblical plan for you to become successful.
If you want to be successful then have a Purpose. In Genesis 11 - the people had a purpose, and it was to build a city and a tower. Can you hear the person with the dream? What we need people is a city, and in this city we need a tower, and not just any tower, our tower must reach into the heavens. The people were united, they worked as one and they had a singleness of purpose. They worked as ONE. If your plan entails more than one person working with you to accomplish your goal then you all have to be on the same page. Listen to what the Lord said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them." They spoke the same LANGUAGE or in other words they were all on the same page. If you want to be successful you need to identify your purpose. You need to name what it is you want to accomplish. You will not be successful without naming your purpose. Who is more likely to get in trouble today? It is my belief people without a purpose will get in more trouble then people with a purpose.
Second, we must also have a PLAN (vs. 3) They said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly." And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar. Their plan was to build this city by making bricks. What is your plan? What are you going to do to become successful? Their plan was to work together and work together they did. The result was the city and tower were both built by their hard labor. Third, we have to be PERSISTENT (vs.6) - The LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. Why will they be able to accomplish the impossible? They will not quit. They will work persistently on any obstacle that is in front of them. When you make up your mind to do something, before you begin, you'll be hit with every negative thought imaginable trying to deter you from this project. Once you begin the project your temptations to quit will come in many a variety of forms. The only way you will succeed is to remain faithful to your purpose and plan. Think On These: Every accomplishment, great or small, starts with the right decision, "I'll Try." Today's preparation determines tomorrow's achievement. Stay Pumped, Gary A.
