I Sam.17:36-37- "Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has taunted the armies of the living God.” And David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and may the Lord be with you.”
When was the last time you remembered some of your victories that you had with the Lord? This is very important please take some time either now or when you finish this Pump Up and replay some of the victories you and the Lord have shared in your life.
He saw himself defeating this enemy like he had defeated others before. David didn’t fight alone. He knew God was with him when he entered on to the battlefield. When you go into battle do you see the Lord going with you? If you don’t see God traveling with you don’t go. The Lord has helped you defeat other enemies in your life and He will help you as you face these new ones. Be like David and remember how the Lord has helped you in the past and will now help you as you travel into your future.
When I saw that check I was excited for a second, BUT I couldn’t take the check. I personally thought I had preached the worse sermon ever. So I informed the elder I could not accept money for that sermon. I signed the check and gave it back to him. Later that afternoon I got a call from the Boilermaker’s Union Hall to report to Shippingport, PA at the power plant the next morning. When I got my first paycheck it was for $350.00. God gave me 10 times the amount I gave to Him. God had delivered me from that financial crisis and He has delivered me from many different types of crises since then.
Once you have mentally visualized you and God conquering your enemy then it is time to actually fight the fight. Get Going with God! It is the way to success. Think on This: When we let God guide, He will provide. The Lord calls for us to stand, though not always to understand. Stay Pumped, Gary A. Serago Minister of God's Word

Ps 46:10 - "Be still, and know that I am God;…" NIV
Stay Pumped, Gary A. Serago Minister of God's Word Prov. 15:31-32 - He whose ear listens to the life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise. He who neglects discipline despises himself, but he who listens to reproof acquires understanding. NASB
Ears That Listen If you are one that is able to listen to someone else giving you correct advice you will be blessed. If your ears are able to listen to the life-giving reproof from others you will prosper. The item we need are ears that will listen to others when they share correct information with us. How Many Times Have We Said, "If Only I Would Have Listened." As I sit here and right this Pump Up I am smiling, but when I was going through life looking back on another mistake I made because I would not listen I wasn't laughing. I wasn't even smiling. I was asking myself, "Why didn't you listen?" The answer is right there in Proverbs because I didn't have ears that would listen. I thought I knew what was best. The one thing I find amazing is the times I didn't listen and I was correct I can't remember those situations as easily as I remember the ones where I didn't listen and was wrong. Reminds Me Of The "How To Be Successful Story" A young college student was sitting in the 5,000 member congregation. He was going to graduate from the local seminary that year. He asked the preacher after service if he could meet with him for 5 minutes. The preacher told him to stop by the office tomorrow morning at 9 am. The young man was there promptly. As he sat in the preacher's office he explained that he would be graduating in the spring and wanted to have a successful ministry like his and was there any advice he could give him. The preacher told him why sure. "I can tell you how to have a successful ministry in three words." The young student said, "Are you kidding me?" The preacher said, "Not at all. Are you ready to write them down?" "Yes." he replied. "Make Right Decisions." the preacher said. As the young student wrote down those three words he asked,"How will I know if I'm making the right decisions?" "I can answer your question with one word. Experience!" said the preacher. With a pondered look on his face he asked, "And how do I get this experience?" With a big smile on the preacher's face he said, "By Making Wrong Decisions." There my friends is how to be successful. You will make decisions in life and not all of them are going to be the right ones. You just have to learn from your mistakes. Make the necessary adjustments, make another decision and continue to move forward. The Choice Is Yours You can either listen to others and be successful as Proverbs states or don't listen to others and learn from your own mistakes. Hopefully, your mistakes will not be too costly and you will be able to rebound and move forward becoming successful. The choice really is yours. Think On These: The biggest fool of all is the one who refuses to learn from his mistakes. Making mistakes isn't stupid, disregarding them is. A mistake is proof that someone was at least trying to accomplish something. Stay Pumped, Gary A. Serago Minister of God's Word Proverbs 15:23 - A man has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word! NASB
Some Days Are Harder Than Others Just when you thought you couldn't go another step, when the weight of the world was crushing you, it happened. You received a call or maybe even a visit and as that person spoke to you your strength rejuvenated within you. What a blessing some people are able to bring into your life immediately. The Message says it this way: Congenial conversation—what a pleasure! The right word at the right time—beautiful! (Proverbs 15:23 MSG) My Early Christian Life When I first became a Christian there was a man named, Jay Pancake, who attended the same congregation that I did. He was about 20 or so years older than me. We became great friends. If I had a stressed out look on my face he could always tell it. He would always say to me, "You need to come out to the house and drink some of Patsy's ice tea with me." I'd say, "When?" And he say, "Today, of course." We both knew what that meant. Whatever was causing me to struggle was going to disappear. Jay had that wisdom that only comes through life experiences and aging. Has life taught you some valuable lessons? Then share them with others. Helping others over the obstacle they are facing is just one way we can be like Jesus. Are You Having One Of Those Days? Solomon says, "How delightful is a timely word!" Hopefully, this Pump Up will give you a lift today or maybe you have a Jay Pancake in your life. Give him or her a call or better yet, if they live close to you stop in and visit with them. They will know by the look on your face why you are there and they won't mind at all. Be On The Lookout One of the worse traps we can fall into in this life is thinking only about ourselves. As you travel around today be on the lookout for someone who could use a timely word. Be a Jay Pancake to someone today. Follow the advice of Solomon either from the Message: Congenial conversation—what a pleasure! The right word at the right time—beautiful! Or from the NASB - A man has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word! I guarantee you that there is someone in the world today who you will come in contact with that could use a timely word from you. Think On These: A friend is someone who believes in you. Even when you have ceased to believe in yourself. No matter how good or bad your life is, wake up each morning and be thankful that you still have one. Stay Pumped, Gary A. Serago Minister of God's Word Prov.11:13 - He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets,
But he who is trustworthy conceals a matter. NASU
Friends know how to conceal things about you and not reveal them. This proverb says a talebearer or one who walks about spreading scandal about you will not be a friend. This person will reveal the events that you didn't want made known. If they will reveal simple embarrassing things then imagine if there was something serious that you didn't want people to find out about you. Please know that I am not talking about anything criminal here. What I am referring to is things that happen to all of us in life but you don't want the whole world to know about it.
I had a reputation that no matter what anyone told me it never got repeated by me. If you are going to be a friend the first characteristic you want to develop is being trustworthy. When someone shares with you an event in their life and asks you to keep it a secret, be a trustworthy friend and don't repeat it. Honor their request. Don't be a low life and blab everything you know. No one can force you to reveal secrets. The power is all yours. You can either conceal or reveal the matter the choice is yours. Take the high road and conceal what you have been asked to conceal. Be a trustworthy friend and conceal matters that pertain to you and your friend(s).
Be a friend today and contact a friend and tell him/her how they have blessed your life. "Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light." - Helen Keller Think on These: A good friend knows all your best stories, while a best friend has lived them with you. Good Friends are Hard to Find, Harder to Leave, and Impossible to Forget. Events in life are not quite as scary when you have a best friend. Stay Pumped, Gary A. Serago Minister of God's Word |
