Luke 1:18-19- Zacharias said to the angel, "How will I know this for certain? For I am an old man and my wife is advanced in years."
Genesis 17:15-17 - Then God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. "I will bless her, and indeed I will give you a son by her. Then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her." Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Will a child be born to a man one hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?" NASU Genesis 18:10-12 - He said, "I will surely return to you at this time next year; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son." And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; Sarah was past childbearing. Sarah laughed to herself, saying, "After I have become old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?" NASU Who does something like that? If you ask me someone with a wild sense of humor and that would be God. I have come to the conclusion that sometimes we may find ourselves in a very precarious predicament and that is exactly where God wants to be. God has a sense of humor and now that we are in this situation. What are we going to do?
Sarah says, God was the One who made her laugh and everyone who heard that she was now pregnant would laugh with her. Being pregnant at 90 years of age I am sure we probably would laugh just not when we were close to the 90 year old woman who was pregnant. Job 8:20-21 - Lo, God will not reject a man of integrity, nor will He support the evildoers. "He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting. NASU Job says, "It is God who will fill your mouth with laughter."
When the LORD brought back the captive ones of Zion, We were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter And our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." The LORD has done great things for us; We are glad. NASU The reason for us to laugh is God has done great things for us. If you are a Christian God has redeemed you, forgiven you of your sins, and filled you with His Holy Spirit. We have a lot more to laugh about than we realize. One thing I have learned as I have aged and that is not to take life so seriously. I wish I would have laughed at myself and situations of life in which I found myself and you can quote me on that. When Was The Last Time You Had A Good Laugh? Think On These: Fortune smiles upon the man who can laugh at himself. Laughter is the shock absorber that eases the blows of life. Stay Pumped, Gary A.
